Herit is a chair that truly unfolds its beauty as your move around it and observe the transitions of shapes. The curves of Herit's back and armrest undulate from a narrow 6mm to 35mm at the broadest point. Oak and plastic merge in tactful synergy, to create a hard-wearing, maintenance-friendly and accessible design, made for modern life.

Dimensions   Length: 51cm x Width: 50cm x Height: 78,5cm.

Materials and Finishes

Shell : Polypropylene, PU Foam with Upholstery Spectrum leather, available in 2 finishes.

Normann Copenhagen uses high-quality top grain leather from Sørensen Leather. Spectrum Leather is a soft leather with a subtle texture that looks more uniform, thanks to a light surface that works to protect the leather from dirt, stains and any fading resulting from exposure to light.

Legs : Smoked Oak.

Construction   The polypropylene parts are molded with a core of foam. This innovative technique makes it possible to create thickness in the needed areas in order to obtain the best seating comfort and construct the sweeping lines of the design. Legs are made of solid wood. Herit comes assembled.

Product Story

Herit, which is short for heritage, reflects Simon Legald’s love of classic Danish furniture craftsmanship. But Herit is just as much a design that looks forward.

It took months of research to uncover the small factory in Northern Italy that could produce the large variations in thickness of the back and unrest of the chair, creating flowing curves and beautiful transitions of shapes.

Innovative production methods, new material compositions and timeless silhouettes give life to a chair that stands tall on its own.

Simon Legald graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in the summer of 2012. His work consists of both small- and large scale products. Simon’s designs are often created in a dialogue between craftsmanship and industry. He also likes to incorporate the techniques that are necessary for the structure of a product into the design by highlighting them visually.

“Honesty is what makes a product understandable and is what describes the products functionality. If you understand the product, it does not need any explanation. The essence of my design is for it to be bought and used. Therefore, it has to satisfy not only the functional aspects, but also the psychological and aesthetic needs. For me simplicity describes the true identity of objects and makes them trustworthy. In my design, I try not to add any unnecessary details. I work with simplicity by highlighting the necessities instead of hiding them. It gives the product a simple and honest expression.”
